At the global level, CARE is committed to contributing to the achievement of the Millennium Developments Goals (MDG), with a specific emphasis on the following goals:
Ensure that, by 2015, Hispanic, Indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian children, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of basic education.
Eliminate disparities in terms of gender and diversity in the areas of education, health, access to public and private jobs, no later than 2015.
Reduce the under-five mortality rate from 40.7% (1990) to 13.6% (2015) per thousand live births.
Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases (tuberculosis).
Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programmes and slow down the loss of environmental resources.
Reduce, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water, in rural areas, from 60% to 30%.
Reduce, by 2015, the percentage of people who lack sustainable sanitary services in rural and urban areas, by 25%.
Achieve good management of public affairs and poverty reduction in Ecuador.
Develop and implement strategies for decent and productive work for youth.
